Device and Method for Sealing Containers
Economical, convenient, and easy-to-useSuitable for use on lids of gallon and quart sized cansConveniently houses a can/bottle opener toolVery inexpensive to produce
Useful for closing a paint can or any cylindrical container with a flat, round lid
Researchers at the University of North Dakota have developed a tool for the easy, convenient and secure closure of paint cans. Conventionally, paint cans and other cylindrical containers are sealed by striking a lid with blunt force, thereby driving the lid into frictional engagement with a corresponding opening in the container. Many times, this results in the uneven applications of force, splattering of contents and incomplete sealing. Our technology is a simple, light-weight device, conical in shape, which allows the impact from a hammer to be distributed evenly around the entire edge of the lid, allowing for a quick and secure seal. In addition, a standard sized paint can opener is stored inside the device for convenient storage and use.
