Polyplex Gene Delivery Vectors
- First development of these cyclic polymers- Increases strength of synergistic binding to oligonucleotides- Provides potential to improve gene therapy technologies
These smaller cyclic polymers are biocompatible and water-soluble. They act as intermediates for preparing cyclic poly (ethylene imine) (PEI). These polymers are a critical factor in both the complexation of DNA and its transfection into cells. These polymers are of great use in the study of siRNA delivery.
This technology potentially can be used for both in vitro and in vivo gene therapy. Production of these cyclic polymers with low molecular weights has been completed on the small scale. Data has resulted with full characterization of linear precursors and cyclic products. With optimization methods, this technology has the potential to be produced with increased molecular weights and to be scaled up in volume.
