System and Method for 3D Measurment and Surface Reconstruction
A novel technology for the measurement and surface reconstruction of a 3D image of an object is developed. The method proposed comprises the projection of a pattern onto the surface to be imaged, the examination of distortion incurred on the pattern by the surface, and the conversion of distortion by a triangulation process. The surface shape of the 3D image can be reconstructed digitally. The method offers an alternative to mechanical scanning.
