Our inventors have discovered that the pharmaceutical composition withacnistin has the ability to suppresshe STAT3 tumor survival pathway and exhibiting potent antitumor activity. Our inventors have also found that growth of cancer cellsin a patient can be inhibited by local/ systemic administration of withacnistin compounds. They have explained methods for modulating STAT3 activity invitro or in vivo by administering the withacnistin compounds.
