Novel thermophilic bacteria capable of degrading lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, and wood fiber have been described. The technology is particularly effective in degrading polychorobiphenyls (PCBs)The method describes bacteria that are useful in biodegradation of waste. This new system of biodegradation is capable of targeting different types of waste and broadening the applicability of waste degradative methods.
