Need for Speed is the most successful racing video game series in the world and one of the most successful video game franchises of all time. Over 150 million copies of games in the series have been sold worldwide to date.
The series, celebrating its 20th anniversary began in 1994 with the release of The Need for Speed and has continued to launch games to critical acclaim ever since with over 20 games released to date.
Published by Electronic Arts the series has been developed by a number of prestigious development studios from Black Box in Vancouver, Canada and more recently Criterion Games in the UK. Need for Speed is now under the control of Ghost Games in Gothenburg, Sweden who are working on the next iteration of the franchise due in 2015.
