Controlling Protein Degradation by Stabilizing Degradation Domains
- 詳細技術說明
- TECHNOLOGYDESCRIPTION: Researchers at the University of Delaware have developed an innovative newprocess where a protein can be rescued from the cell so that degradation isavoided. This allows the quickest route for clearing undesired proteins fromthe cell. In this method, a small peptide is fused to the end of a degradationdomain. A second protein can then interact with that small peptide, therebystabilizing and effectively hiding from the cell machinery, resulting in therapid accumulation of the protein of interest in the cell with very littlebackground.PATENT STATUS: This technology is patent pending. Further information on licensingopportunities is available on request.APPLICATION: This isa potent new process in which a desired protein can be cleared from the cell byavoiding degradation, resulting in rapid accumulation of the protein of interest.PROBLEMS ADDRESSED: At the moment, there are no technologies or processes that allow for theregulation of protein stability using other proteins intracellularly other thanthis process. There are other technologies on the market available, however, all of these technologies allow for the rescue of protein degradation usingsmall particles from outside input.
