Novel GPCR, Membrane Antigen, and Cyclin D Proteins from KSHV
- *Abstract
-
Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpes virus (also referred to as KSHV or human herpes virus 8 HHV-8) plays a pathogenic role in the development of some malignant lymphomas.
The inventors have identified and/or sequenced three proteins of KSHV: an antigenic membrane protein; a G protein coupled receptor; and a cyclin protein. The invention provides isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding these proteins as well as antisense molecules and ribozymes derived therefrom.
The proteins may be targets for drug discovery efforts; the membrane protein or GPCR could provide antigens for a vaccine.
