Sort Stream Stabilizer for Flow Cytometer
- *Abstract
-
The flow cytometry community has long been aware of problems with sort stability that arise after the sorter has been in operation for several hours.
Christopher Colon, former Director of the Flow Cytometry Facility at the Weill Cornell Medical College, developed a device that solves these problems.
Even when the temperature of the lab is stabilized, the temperature of the device itself gradually rises due to heat generated during the operation. Mr. Colon created a cooling device to provide a constant low temperature, eliminating the small changes in ambient temperature that destabilize the sort stream. He has produced a working prototype, which has produced a dramatic improvement in sort stability.
