Chimeric Tumor Suppressor Gene and Protein
- 總結
- Lead Inventors: Paul B Fisher, Ph.D.Problem or Unmet Need:Tumor suppressor genes are genes that protect a cell from one step on the path to cancer. The discovery and understanding of tumor suppressor genes led to the development of new kinds of cancer therapies. The technology discovered a novel tumor suppressor gene and its protein with cancer growth suppressing and apoptosis inducing properties by simple genetic recombination techniques, which could have big impact on anti-cancer therapies. The technology developed a novel chimeric tumor suppressor gene, comprising portions of the rat PEG-3 gene fused with portions of human GADD34 gene, exhibiting anti-proliferative activity when expressed in transformed cells. The technology also provides other rPEG3/hGADD34 chimeras, and the use of such genetic modified proteins in inhibiting cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and tumor growth.
