- With the gene-over-expression, the crop size in length is increased by almost 30%. On the other and, with the gene-suppressed-expression, the length was decreased by almost 30%.The height of the hybrid plant (F1) became taller after the hybridization between normal rice and gene-over-expressing transgenic rice. The size of crop from the F1 plant remained bigger than the size of normal rice.In addition, researchers confirmed this gene increased seed weight of Arabidopsis thaliana by almost 100%.

Researchers of Nagoya University have identified and isolated the alleles that enlarges the crop size. By controlling the expression of this gene, the size of rice can be changed larger or smaller than usual size.
