Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCV or MCPyV) is one of seven known human tumor viruses. 80% of Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) tumors have been shown to be infected with MCV. MCC is a rare but aggressive form of skin cancer. MCV appears to be a common and universal infection in older children and adults. The virus can be detected in respiratory secretions suggesting that the virus is transmitted via the respiratory route. Monoclonal antibody CM2B4 recognizes the large T antigen of MCV.Validated Uses:Western BlotImmunoprecipitationImmunohistochemistryImmunofluorescenceReferences:Science. 2008 Feb 22;319(5866):1096-100.
