详细技术说明
Techniquesto manipulate short fibers in a polymeric matrix.
*Abstract

Thistechnology allows for the alignment of fillers in a certain direction, orwithin a specific aspect of the plate/shell, which significantly enhancemechanical and physical properties. Using methods proposed, the short fillerswithin a given material could be aligned to give a certain aspect of thematerial more desirable material properties. The ability to control thealignment of the fibers allows for specific properties of the material to beenhanced, such as durability, strength, toughness, electrical resistivity, thermal conductivity, etc.

*Background
Polymeric-matrixcomposites are commonly recognized for their strength, stiffness, anddurability.  The composites in the matrixmainly consist of organic, continuous fibers, such as aramid, glass, andcarbon.  Short fibers (chopped orrecycled) and nanofibers (nanowires or nanotubes) can be also used to reinforcea polymer matrix.  These reinforcementsare considered high aspect ratio fillers. In order to create an adequate matrix, however, the fillers must bealigned and spaced in a fashion that maximizes durability and efficiency. Polymericmatrix composites are ideal for aerospace materials, sporting good, automobiles, etc., as these industries require reliable, durable material.
