详细技术说明
Researchers at INL havedeveloped methods and systems for the removal of arsenic from water at a cost projectedto be below $0.15 per thousand gallons. Utilizing Nano-sized particles, extremely high reaction rates facilitate rapid, selective arsenic removal evenat low (10 ppb) concentrations. The Nano sorbent has an arsenic “loading”factor seven to 100 times greater than existing adsorbents, and can beregenerated without appreciable loss of capacity multiple times, reducing wasteand operating costs.
*Abstract

TECHNOLOGYMARKETING SUMMARY:
Globally, tens of millions of people are exposed to dangerous concentrations ofthe toxin arsenic as it naturally leaches from rocks and soil into drinkingwater supplies. Even in the United States, thousands of municipalities andmillions of people have drinking water that exceeds the EPA recommendation of10 parts per billion (ppb) of arsenic. Current arsenic removal methods cost$0.50-$1.50 per thousand gallons of water treated, require frequentreplacement, are prone to decomposition, have low removal efficiencies, andoften require long contact times to facilitate the capture. These limitationsmake them difficult to implement in large-scale water treatment or local wellwater treatment.
