Modeling Complex Human Disease in a Single Animal
- 技术优势
- Highly sensitive phenotyping withhighly variable genetic backgroundNot dependent on congenic strainSave tremendous time and moneyStudy three phenotypes in a single animal.
- 技术应用
- Studying the molecular mechanisms of human diseases and for pharmaceutical drug testing.
- 详细技术说明
- To alleviate this problem, the inventors developed an allin-one technique which allows the generation of the three cell populations in a single animal. As controls are not required, establishing congenic strains are not necessary, the all-in-one model can be crossed with many strains simultaneously and study the function of a gene in a wide genetic background required for recapitulating human complex diseases. This single animal technique is especially useful to generate larger animal models including non-human primates, who cannot be bred in a large number like mice required for statistics used in traditional methods. By creating an all-in-one mouse model, they addressed the critical requirement that current animal models cannot meet in modeling complex human diseases.
