Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide from Various Potential Energy Sources
- 详细技术说明
- This invention describes an iron-enriched composition and a method to remove hydrogen sulfide from a gaseous or liquid mixture to enable methane and other gases to be used as a fuel.
- *Abstract
-
Anaerobic fermentation of biological waste products naturally produces methane. However it is contaminated with hydrogen sulfide up to 30,000 ppm, which is toxic and is corrosive to generators, limiting methane use as a fuel. This technology has been shown to reduce hydrogen sulfide to non-detectable levels and could be adapted to be used at landfills and with manure digesters that release methane.
Potential Applications
Removal of hydrogen sulfide from methane and other gases generated from:
- Landfills
- Farm-based fermenters
- Sewage treatment plants
Advantages
- A cost effective, efficient system to remove hydrogen sulfide from methane and other gases produced by anaerobic fermentation in biological waste materials, allowing use of the gas as a fuel.
- Can be used on-site, such as in biomethane production from anaerobic digesters, landfills, dairy farms, etc.
