The method for including a watermark in a digital image comprises of obtaining digital data of a transformed representation of the image. A transformed representation of the watermark for optimized visibility of the watermark in the image is determined. The transformed representation of the watermark is superposed on the transformed representation of the image.The watermark applied by this method is a visible or invisible pattern which is superposed on an image, and is not readily removable without leaving evidence of tampering.
