Fibrosis (chronic scarring) accounts for up to 45% of deaths in thedeveloped world, but there are no FDA-approved anti-fibrotic therapies.Researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital have found that exosomes fromhealthy cells contain molecular signals reflective of a healthy state and canbe delivered to fibrotic cells that mitigate or reverse fibrosis. This noveltherapy will have an impact on numerous diseases, including liver disease,cardiovascular disease, pulmonary fibrosis, kidney disease, and maculardegeneration.
