An apparatus and method for generating a substantially supercontinuum free, widely tunable, multi-milliwatt source of radiation.
Large Stokes shift (~4700cm-1) four-wave mixing is generated in a deeplynormal dispersion regime from a 20 cmcommercial large-mode-area photoniccrystal fiber pumped by amplified ~800nm femtosecond pulses. The phase-matching condition is realized throughan intermodal scheme involving twopump photons in the fundamental fibermode and a pair of Stokes/anti-Stokesphotons in a higher-order fiber mode.Over 7% conversion efficiency from thepump input to 586 nm anti-Stokes signalhas been attained.
