*Abstract

*Background
Prior to the development of a method to dissolve selenium and sulfur based chalcogenides in solution, there was no easy way to utilize such compounds to make nanoparticles despite their potential for use in semiconductor manufacturing. Now that such a method exists, the same Purdue University researchers that developed that method have developed a process for synthesizing tetragonal luzonite and cubic tennantite. These compounds exhibit favorable semiconductor properties that are similar to the well-studied CZTSSe compound, including p-type conductivity, direct band gap transition, and ideal band gap energy, for use in solar conversion materials.
