*Abstract
The sample deformation during the metal mirror impact freezing cryopreservation technique is common in prior art. This technique is mainly used in the preparation of biological samples of electron microscopic observations. Such a deformation gives rise to inaccurate interpretation of sample characteristics. Therefore, in order to avoid/minimize these deformations, many procedures/techniques have been used in the past. However, these techniques are associated with many limitations such as the formation of ice crystals, in the case of mechanical hard stops, inaccurate monitoring and potentially high distortions, in the case of offset distance adjustment devices, and potential bounce effects in the case of other commonly used techniques. The proposed invention discloses the development and use of a novel device/method for effectively minimizing such mechanical distortion effects arising due to high impact velocity.
