-
Inventors have created an improved computed-tomography scanner capable of imaging trabecular bone structures, synonymous with cancellous bone or spongy bone, while dramatically reducing the required radiation dosage. Trabecular bones comprise 20% of the human skeleton and contain lattice work structures ranging in size from 50-200um. This invention may reduce patient radiation exposure by 37-75% per imaging procedure. For example, the inventorΓÇÖs optimal imaging case for the forearm would range from 500 mGy at 50um to 0.4 mGy at 200 um.
