Problem:Need for harder, tougher, and more elastic coatings for better performance in tool applications.Technology:This invention uses the traditional Physical Vapor Deposition method to create coatings from pure NbC, multilayer NbC/TiN and NbC particles distributed in a nickel matrix. All coatings are sputtered from pure compounds and cosputtering of NbC and nickel.
