*Abstract: A method, embodied in software, for improved management of dairy herds. Provides the dairy herd manager with a tool to determine the effect of management actions (e.g., feed regime, environmental conditions, breeding practices) on milk production without the confounding effects of related factors that affect a cow's individual milk production (e.g., age of cow, freshening date, breed of cow, etc.). This allows manager to optimize the cost efficiency of milk production for a herd. Also provides an effective tool in analysis of genetics of milk production.
