A-44 Real time liver monitoring device to prevent ischemia and reperfusion injury

Technology Benefits
ΓùÅ could be used in clinical practiceΓùÅ first real time monitoring system for liver condition under ischemia and reperfusionΓùÅ give surgeons proper time of ischemia and reperfusion for better operation resultsΓùÅ Can measure other materials by changing the polymer membrane on the electrode
Technology Application
ΓùÅ Real time liver monitoring device under hepatic operation
Detailed Technology Description
Nagoya University researchers have ascertained that under ischemia conditions more nitric monoxide (NO) is generated in the liver and the amount of NO is closely related with ischemia and reperfusion injury: an injured liver produced less NO than healthy one during ischemia condition. By monitoring NO generation in the liver, liver condition under ischemia can be better understood and proper timing for reperfusion can be obtained. The device has a NO sensor and a monitor to display realtime amount of NO production in liver.
