Box for measuring the breathing of small animals

詳細技術說明

Box for measuring the breathing of small animals, in which it is possible to place at least one small animal. The box is equipped with a door and at least one sensor for measuring the breathing of a small animal located in and/or on the box and connected to the evaluation device. The essence of the technical solution is that the box is shaped like a box, the first rectangular subparagraph of which is equipped with a door, and the second rectangular substructure is smaller in width than the first rectangular substructure. The side walls of the box block shall, at least in part, be receding towards the second substructure with a smaller width at an angle α lying between 10° and 60°. The converging side walls and the second substructure define the measuring zone of the box for placing the head of a small animal, which is equipped with a sensor for capturing and measuring exuded air. The sensor located in the measuring zone at the same time as the mouth of the small animal provides a defined space for monitoring and measuring the amount or volume of exuded air directly at the place of breathing, thus obtaining accurate results. In addition, the box is equipped with at least one valve for hermetic closing of the box in the closed position and for the discharge of fresh air into the inner compartment of the box in the open position. Thanks to this valve, the air inside the box is replaced without the need to remove the small animal from the box and thus without interrupting the breathing measurement. Thanks to this, the measurement can take place continuously for a longer period of time. The air valve is controlled mechanically by creating external pressure on the valve and obtaining its open position or automatically, in which case it is an electro-mechanical device suitable especially for long measurements. The air exchange thus takes place continuously at regular intervals, without the need for an experimenter's control. In addition, the small animal quickly gets used to the regularly repeated sounds accompanying the opening of the valve, and the experimenter easily determines which data are inaccurate due to the air change in the box.
