To ensure image quality and reduce repeat MRI exams, sedation istypically required for younger pediatric patients who will undergo MRI exams. Researchersat Nationwide Children’s Hospital have developed a new process combiningdevices, immersive virtual reality simulation, and predictive analytics tobetter educate and prepare pediatric patients or research participants forroutine MRI exams. Additionally, this technology will aid in predicting whichpatients are best suited to undergo an MRI without sedation and in predictingwhich research participants are likely to successfully complete a functionalMRI study. This technology will improve pediatric MRI clinical throughput andreduce patient and family apprehension towards MRI exams.
