Solid-State Polymer Electrolyte
- 詳細技術說明
- Solid-State Polymer ElectrolytesA solid-state polymer electrolyte has been developed and can be used for safer, longer lasting, and lower cost lithium ion battery applications and enable higher energy density. The technology produces solid-state electrolytes that are less expensive, mechanically stronger and have better ionic conductivity than current electrolytes, enabling batteries that are smaller, safer and need replacing less often than current batteries.Note: This technology has been exclusively licensed. If you have questions, please contact the University of Minnesota's Office for Technology Commercialization.Smaller and Safer Lithium BatteryThe electrolyte consists of a cross-linked block co-polymer, which eliminates the need for a flammable solvent, removing the chance of the battery catching fire, a problem which has plagued current batteries. The polymer electrolyte material is compatible with a high energy density lithium metal electrode. Conventional electrolytes allow the growth of lithium dendrites, which can lead to explosive failure, the described technology eliminates this growth. Costs are reduced because the synthesis is completed in a single step.BENEFITS OF SOLID-STATE ELECTROLYTES:One step synthesis means lower cost than current materials.High energy density, mechanical stability and ionic conductivity.Safer than conventional electrolytes – enables the use of lithium metal electrodes without the risk of explosion.Patent Information:International Patent Application WO 2014/190278
