A simple ELISA detects Seneca Valley Virus as a cause of idiopathic vesicular disease (IVD) in swine. The ELISA detects serum antibodies to Senecavirus A (SVA) viral protein 2. These methods use the Senecavirus A polypeptide as a capture antigen for detecting antibodies that specifically bind to the Senecavirus A polypeptide, which may also be used as an immunogen to vaccinate against Senecavirus A infection.
