- 詳細技術說明
- Researchers at the University of California, Santa Barbara have developed a microchannel geometry that observes and measures the motion of charged particles. This geometry enables one to perform simple DC electrophoresis to measure the electrophoretic mobility of analytes and particles. It allows for direct measurement of electrophoretic mobility without needing to actively eliminate the fluid motion. Further, this development makes data collection over extended periods of time, a possibility that was previously not available. A device containing this geometry can produce the necessary conditions for electrophoretic mobility measurements with similar accuracy and repeatability as modern industrial tools using simpler equipment and less complex post-processing algorithms.

Background
In typical capillary geometries, mobility measurements using DC fields are difficult to perform. Specifically, measurements in open capillaries require knowledge of wall surface potential which is often hard to measure. Further, applied DC fields lead to electrode polarization affecting the reliability and accuracy of the measurement. Therefore, there is a need for improved techniques for measuring electrophoretic mobility of analytes and particles.
