*Abstract
This technology offers the potential for tunably resistive, ink-jet printable flexi-circuits. Positioned in the flexible electronics market, projected to grow from $3.13B/year in 2015 to $12.1B/year in 2022 at a CAGR of >23%, the process overcomes disadvantages of nanoparticle based inks that suffer from a limited number of material choices (dominated by Ag), high cost, and low shelf-life. Other attributes include: * - Particle-free, stabilizer-free, metal-salt based ink is deposited by conventional ink-jet printing. * - Printed lines are plasma-reduced at room-temperature to produce metallic structures with tunable conductivity, thus avoiding the need for post-print thermal sintering. * - Process is inherently scalable (was developed on a Dimatix 3000 series commercial printer) and has been demonstrated on glass, polymer, and paper substrates. Applications in flexible/disposable electronics and sensors.
