Conductive Cooling & Heating System for Livestock to Prevent Heat Stress and Enhance Milk Productivity
- 詳細技術說明
- This invention describes a novel conductive cooling system for heatstress relief in lactating dairy cattle.
- *Abstract
-
Cornell researchersdeveloped a conductive cooling system to relieve thermally stressed dairycattle or livestock. The system has been designed to capture the heat flux byuse of circulating cooling water through water-filled rubber mats, and by definingspecific parameters for temperature, bedding material, thickness, and moisture.
The prototype has beentested in lactating cows. Results indicate that conductive coolingsignificantly effectively mitigated heat stress and consequently increases milkproduction, feed consumption and decreases rectal temperature, skin temperature, and respiration rate in lactating dairy cattle.
PotentialApplications
Heatstress relief in dairy cattle for increased milk production.
Advantages
- Alternativeto sprinkler and mister systems
- Moreeffective heat stress relief than fan-only systems
- Morehygienic solution than evaporation-based cooling systems
- Reducedwater consumption
