Language Learning Through Guided Multilingual Mixing
- 詳細技術說明
- An interactive tool for foreign language learning is proposed that blends a user's native tongue with a language to be learned.
- *Abstract
-
This interactive method provides a novel way for natural language learning in context, rather than traditional approaches of rote vocabulary memorization and/or formal instruction. The languages are combined based on natural constraints inspired by social and linguistic studies of code-switching including syntax and semantics.
This invention includes the code-mixed narrative or combined content as well as an algorithm for its generation. Narratives are provided in various forms (e.g. text, audio, video, combinations) and include static content and content tailored to specific users based on preferences and/or proficiency. Active real-time generation on computer screen occurs through user feedback, such as reading time (through gaze-tracking) for online language-comprehension evaluation.
Potential Application
Learning a foreign language
