Genetic Transformation of Apple Without Use of Selectable Marker
- 詳細技術說明
- This invention describes a method to transform apple plants without a selectable marker gene.
- *Abstract
-
This invention describes a method to transform apple plants without a selectable marker gene.
Selectable markers, such as antibiotic and herbicide resistance markers, are widely used in transformation to generate transgenic crops in order to increase transformation efficiency. Various methods have been developed to remove the selectable markers after transformation and prior to commercialization of the products. However, such procedures are usually unpractical for fruit trees due to the breeding process and can be unreliable.
The high efficiency obtained in Cornell's apple transformation system makes marker free transformation possible. The invention was successfully demonstrated in several apple varieties.
