*Abstract

Cornell researchers have developed a novel MEMS oscillator useful for parametric amplification. Having a resonant frequency changeable by the application of heat, the resonant frequency is varied, using a laser, at a frequency different from the oscillator's resonant frequency to amplify oscillations. Easily formed on a silicon substrate, the oscillator can be utilized as an amplifier, antenna, phase demodulator, or laser controlled oscillator.
