Activators of a previously uncharacterized sirtuin isoform
- *Abstract
-
Inventions:
- New and known chemical entities that activate a specific sirtuin isoform
- Screen to identify compounds that modulate a specific sirtuin isoform
- Methods to treat various diseases by activating a specific sirtuin isoform
Sirtuins are proteins that have been the subject of intense scientific and commercial interest, as they are involved in fundamental metabolic processes. Much work to date has focused on human SIRT1 (yeast Sir2); other human SIRT proteins (SIRT2-SIRT7) are thinly characterized and modulators are unknown.
The Sauve lab at the Weill Cornell Medical College has discovered activators of one of these SIRTs, and identified several biological consequences of its activation. The biological activity of this sirtuin was previously unknown.
The work is currently unpublished and the field is highly competitive - further detail may be made available only under confidentiality.
