*Abstract

A new approach was developed to create polymeric nanofibers by electrospinning from a microfluidic source. The invention allows for the production of new materials, more rapid production by the use of arrays, better control of fiber dimensions and the possibility to deposit patterns of functional nanostructures on surfaces. Potential applications to exploit are nano electronics, data storage, enhanced strength fibers, drug delivery devices, tissue engineering, or filtrations solutions.
