*Abstract: Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley have developed a micromachined valve for fluidic and gas systems that requires no energy input to remain open or closed. The moving parts of the valve are cantilevered plates or cantilevers. The cantilevers are actuated by differential heating and thermal expansion.
