- *Abstract
-
This material is a biologically compatible inorganic material that when placed in a mammel chemically reacts with body fluids in a way that promotes growth of soft and hard tissue. The reacted material can be hydroxyapatite or any other reaction product that is biocompatible and which is ideally resorbed by the body, and is eventually replaced by new tissue. The rate at which the bioactive material reacts with body fluids to form new tissue can be varied from days to months, depending upon the chemical composition of the bioactive material.
