Novel Polymers with High Glass Transition Temperature

- McGill University is seeking to out-license intellectual property relating to novel homopolymers and copolymers containing 2H-benzimidazol-2-one units. These polymers containing benzimidazolone moieties have been synthesized by polymerization via C-N coupling reactions. The polymers have exceptionally high glass transition temperatures (Tg’s). Copolymers can be synthesized that dramatically enhance the Tg of, e.g. commercial polysulphones, that should allow entry into new markets in the high performance engineering plastics arena.
