*Abstract

The invention involves production of a novel moldable wood-thermoset polymer composite with superior mechanical strength to Wood-plastic-Composites (WPCs). WPCs combine the mechanical strength of wood with the durability and resistance of plastics. In comparison with solid wood, however, the stiffness and strength of the current WPCs are still significantly poorer and need to be improved. This invention improves the wood-thermoset crosslinking with the capability of molding to achieve superior mechanical stiffness and strength.

Advances in wood-plastic-composites(WPC) have permitted the utilization of wood in additional applications such asautomotive components, household electronics, and environmentally resistantbuilding products. By combining the mechanical strength of wood with thedurability and resistance of plastics, WPC has several distinct characteristicsthat make it environmentally friendly while requiring little maintenance.Strides in this field have been made in its moldability, maintenance, and resistance.However, there is still a need for WPC to display strength, stiffness, andrigidity qualities that are more relatable to solid wood.
