詳細技術說明
Polysiloxanes have a variety of applications including as adhesives, coatings, sealants and additives. The utility of a polysiloxane isdetermined by its physical properties, which are dependent upon thechemical functionality of the polysiloxane composition. By reactingpolysiloxanes with carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon disulfide (CS2), thechemical composition is modified via ionic and/or covalent crosslinkingof the polysiloxane chains. This technique is an inexpensive method tomake novel polysiloxane compositions that are tuned to have physicalproperties that enhance their utility for specific applications.

*Stage of Development
Polysiloxanes with up to 15% amino content were allowed to react withCO2 and CS2, which resulted in ionic cross linked ammonium carbamateand dithiocarbamate polysiloxanes respectively. The formation ofammonium carbamate polysiloxanes was reversible upon heating in astream of N2. Upon heating, dithiocarbamate polysiloxanes went on toform covalently cross-linked thiourea polysiloxane chains. Thematerials were then analyzed for properties including theirviscoelastic properties, swelling andadhesiveness.
