A Device for the Improvement of Transcranial Magnetic and Transcranial Electrical Stimulation of the Brain
- 標題
- A Device for the Improvement of Transcranial Magnetic and Transcranial Electrical Stimulation of the Brain
- 詳細技術說明
- Non-invasive brain stimulation such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) are safe and cost effective therapeutic tools for a number of psychiatric disorders such as depression or for rehabilitation of brain function following brain injury, stroke, or degenerative neurological disease like Parkinson's. The effectiveness of brain stimulation can be improved by integrating information related to the patient's brain state, but at present, such therapies are administered to patients without regard to underlying brain activity. Research at the University of Arkansas has resulted in the invention of a device that can significantly improve the efficacy of both TMS and TDCS. Patent rights to the new device are available for license.
