Novel Wheelchair With Built-In Seat Lift and Integrated Walker
Purdue University students have designed and developed a product that will allow wheelchair users to more easily get in and out of their wheelchair. The wheelchair utilizes a linear actuator, raising the seat about a hinge, to assist the user in standing up. For convenience, a walker is integrated into the wheelchair's armrest and can easily be deployed for use. Stability, comfort, and an increased feeling of independence separate this design from current products on the market.
