Thermoelectric Coated Glass Fiber Motion Sensors
- 總結
- Researchers at Purdue University have developed a new sensor that uses this phenomenon to detect motion. It works by measuring the voltage with respect to the airflow around it. By filtering the response, it is possible to distinguish ambient air motion from human motion within a small area. This could be used for perimeter intrusion detection systems. While it does not have the sensitivity of other sensors, this design has the advantage of being inexpensive, self-powered, and simple in design.

- When gas flows over a material, its velocity changes, which causes a subsequent change in the pressure and temperature of the gas and material. If the material is a semiconductor, the change in temperature generates a voltage difference across the surface because of the Seebeck effect.
