GAS DELIVERY SYSTEM TO PROVIDE INDUCED PARTIAL SATURATION THROUGH SOLUTE TRANSPORT AND REACTIVITY FOR LIQUEFACTION MITIGATION

技術優勢
Value PropositionThe liquefaction mitigation technique:ΓÇóIs highly cost effective as compared to prior art techniquesΓÇóIs effectively applied at a new site as well as underneath existing structuresΓÇóIs extremely simple to use/operate and is applied with minimum intrusionΓÇóEnables a potential elimination of liquefaction occurrence under any size earthquakeΓÇóGenerates gas bubbles within the soil instead of forcing it from the ground surface, as observed with prior art techniquesΓÇóAllows for a selective treatment of affected zones based on associated potential risksΓÇóWould be commercially effective in earthquake engineering for liquefaction mitigation as well as in environmental engineering for ground contaminate remediation

*Abstract
Liquefaction of loose saturated sands has proved to be one of the major causes of damages occurring at earthquake sites. Many soil improvement techniques to mitigate liquefaction have been used till date. Some of these techniques are excavation and removal of liquefaction susceptible soil, soil densification, installation of sand drains, soil confinement, and physical/chemical modification of soil to increase strength. However, these techniques are very expensive and are applicable to use only at new sites. This novel liquefaction mitigation technique comprises a gas generation and delivery system to induce a partial saturation in loose saturated sand, leading to an overall strength gain.
