*Abstract

Currently, there is no known mechanism for altering mucus barrier properties. Moreover, the current methods for fighting microbial infection do not prevent the invasion of epithelium by the pathogen. This invention discloses novel mucus strengthening and weakening formulations to alter mucus barrier properties.
