- 技術應用
- Biliary Tract Disease
- 詳細技術說明
- This technology consists of novel methods for the treatment and detection of biliary tract disease. The methods of treatment involve administration of a melatonin signaling modulator and in some cases with gene therapy, cell therapy, and/or anti-tumor therapy. This invention also provides novel procedures for measuring melatonin in subjects for early detection of disease. Currently, in-vivo studies are being conducted at Baylor Scott & WhiteΓÇÖs Digestive Disease Research Center.
- *Abstract
-
Biliary tract diseases are a common cause of morbidity and mortality in the U.S. and can result in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), or bile duct cancer. CCA is a clinically silent disease, which makes it difficult to catch in the early stages when cancer treatment is most successful. This invention describes novel methods to not only diagnose CCA at earlier stages, but also provides new treatment modalities to combat the disease.
