Ruthenium nano-particles for tissue, cell and materials imaging
- 技術優勢
- Attachment is now possible by using commercially available materials which overcomes these difficulties Ruthenium coated nano-particles are highly luminescent These novel nano particles can be characterised with different techniques including spectroscopy and microscopy. The particles may also be useful for labelling tumours, making the tumours easier to target with radiotherapy.
- 詳細技術說明
- The coating of noble metal (gold and platinum) nano-particles with luminescent complexes has been an area of research interest as ruthenium complexes are attractive for biological applications as luminescent probes for several reasons. They are excited with visible light and emit red light, are suitable for biological samples and are not photosensitive, a common problem with organic probes. However ruthenium complexes are positively charged and attempts to attach them to gold nano-particles usually leads to agglomeration of the particles. This new method of complexing causes no agglomeration. Further studies continue to explore the utility of these materials.
