Hand operated hoist
A manual hoist for loads light enough to be lifted with muscle power. In one embodiment the device consists of two handles resembling retractable dog leashes. The handles are operated by turns with means of locking mechanisms comprising ratchets locking respective reels. The user keeps a handle in each hand and operates the ratchets with respective thumbs. By locking a reel in one handle the user raises or lowers the load (e.g. himself) while the line in the other handle retracts or extracts.
